Friday – September 26, 2014 – 8:00p. – 10:00p. – Christ & Saint Stephen’s Church – NYC – THE FALLING OF THE LEAVES (A Concert of Songs by Dan Furman) – 120 West 69th St. (between Columbus Ave. & Broadway) – 10023 – www.csschurch.org. Pianist / Composer Dan Furman – www.danfurman.com. “The Falling Of The Leaves” – 8 short songs composed by Dan Furman written to the early poems of W.B. Yeats, sung by Kristin Maloney and Adam MacDonald. Dan’s songs span jazz, cabaret and musical theatre. This Evening will include a preview of songs from Dan’s new musical, “The Proust Virus”, as well as a selection of songs from “RIP!’ ( a play written by Dan) plus a few other surprises.
Dan studied composition at Oberlin College and Conservatory and has worked in New York City as a jazz / cabaret pianist for the last 10 years. Dan’s Jazz Group, Primordial Jazz Funktet, released a CD in 2009 entitled “We Are Here!” and the Dan Furman Trio regularly plays at Cleopatra’s Needle. Dan composed music, lyrics and book for “RIP!”, which was featured in 2011 Midtown International Theatre Festival and is currently working on several new musical theatre projects.
