A Schumann violin sonata or Beethoven string quartet springs to mind as examples. \nImprovisational Music is music that is created spontaneously within a predetermined framework. The greatest of musical masters were highly skilled improvisers. Frescobaldt\, Bach\, Mozart\, et al regularly improvised. That spontaneous music creation became the backbone of our great American jazz tradition; and now improvised solos can be heard in many of our current popular genres from rock and country to new age / pop. \nCaimano\, Rodriguez and Ulrich combine these concepts of chamber and improvised music (utilizing 21st century compositional techniques) creating music “without borders”. A fugue leading to an improvised samba solo section followed by a jazz waltz is entirely plausible with these three consummate musicians. \nIn 1961\, Gunther Schuller defined third stream as “a new genre of music located about halfway between jazz and classical music”. He insisted that “by definition there is no such thing as third stream jazz”; allowing for any and all influences and permutations to be free to flourish. Not limited to classical and jazz\, Caimano\, Rodriguez and Ulrich push this definition further. \nConcert Donation –\n$20.00 General Admission & $15.00 Seniors / Students (CASH at the door please) \nRefreshments provided by Project 142\nStreet parking after 7:00p.m.\nSubway Stop – 7 Line – Hudson Yards Stop – West 34th St. & 11th Ave.\nwww.mta.info\nProject 142 Concert Series – www.project142.org\nA 501 (c)(3) Non Profit Organization – ALL DONATIONS Tax Deductible\nOnline Donations via: www.project142.org/donation-page-new \n
